Closer Connections

I am passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and parents as they navigate challenging behaviours and work toward stronger, more connected relationships. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel understood, supported and cared for within the context of their families and relationships.
I began my career working in group homes with adolescents, where I developed a strong appreciation for the resilience of young people and an interest in family reunification. This work inspired me to pursue my Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia. I then worked in family reunification services, providing counselling to adolescents and their parents to strengthen relationships and support safe, sustainable transitions back into the home.
I later spent several years working with Child and Family Services in Alberta. While this experience was valuable and rewarding, I found myself missing the meaningful connection that comes with direct counselling work. After returning to Manitoba, I worked as a clinician in group homes with at-risk adolescent girls, collaborating closely with youth, staff, and families to improve communication, foster resilience, and support emotional growth. I then transitioned into child and adolescent mental health and spent five years at the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre before moving into private practice.
My Approach
With over a decade of experience in the counselling field, I bring a trauma- and attachment-informed, compassionate approach to my work. I support individuals and families navigating the impacts of trauma and life stressors, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and parent-child relationship challenges. I strive to create a safe, respectful and non-judgmental supportive space where healing, connection, and meaningful change can take place.
Whether you are an individual or a family seeking to heal from past experiences, strengthen relationships, or develop practical coping skills, I am here to support you. Using a person-centred approach, I work collaboratively with clients to build a deeper understanding of themselves, greater emotional awareness, and empower them to move toward meaningful change that enhances their overall well-being.
