Sometimes the biggest challenge is listening to our own quiet inner voice rather than what the world is yelling at us.

Play is the language of children and is a natural way of being. They learn through play, communicate through play and work through difficult experiences through play. My office is equipped with a variety of toys, games, costumes, puppets and materials that are all geared to allow children to find a way to express what is needed. Children readily feel safe to engage in play-based activities in the therapy setting. I explore themes discovered in the play elements which then guides additional activities to be introduced. Other expressive elements are often introduced into the work including artistic activities, story writing, and even song and dance. Elements of teaching skills and bringing personal awareness to the child round out the therapy work.

In the work that I do, caregivers are a consistent part of the process, as evidence suggests this involvement is more likely to maintain the shifts in behaviour during and after therapy. We start the therapy as adults to develop the plan, then a portion of each child session includes time with the caregiver(s) joining the child. Consistent communication is maintained with the caregiver(s) throughout therapy and typically several adult sessions without the child are scheduled throughout the process to review feedback, detailed progress, continued concerns, suggestions for caregivers, and next steps.

Include a full 60 minute hour at a rate of $120 plus GST

Afterhours Appointments

There is no additional charge for evening appointments.

Other services

Attending school-based or community meetings, writing reports, and the like would be discussed at a prorated amount.

Contracted services are discussed on an individual basis and terms would be negotiated based on the expectations of service.

Payment can be made by cash, e-transfer or cheque and is due at the end of each session.

Maybe today is that day to start rewriting the first line in that story… maybe not tackling the whole story, perhaps just the first line.
